Released Mallards

Mallard hunts for Individuals and/or Corporate Groups Welcome!!

The Mallard Duck is the only waterfowl species that can be legally released for the purpose of shooting, and so, in the interest of making sure we have everything the client may want, we bring this option to the table as a hunting option.  This type of hunt is done differently than with our upland birds, since the birds are not released before the hunt.  The hunter waits for the bird to come to him or her as it is released to simulate a migrating duck coming in to feed..

These birds are released into flight in the general direction of the hunters, and it is then the responsibility of the guide or hunters to bring that duck into the spread.  Pass shooting can also be done for those birds that are in range but do not want to land.  We try to mimic every aspect of a wild waterfowl hunt!

While released Mallard hunting, we will always treat the hunt as if it were a waterfowl hunt where wild birds are shot.  We do not simply stand on the shoreline waiting for ducks to land.  The hunt is part of the experience, and we at Skattergun Flats believe the experience is as much or more important than the birds themselves.  We make every effort to keep the client happy and comfortable.

Years of waterfowl hunting with B'wana's Guide Services has taught us what the customer wants in a waterfowl hunt, so we bring that knowledge to the table here with our released Mallard hunts.

Unfortunately, Mallards will not be kept on the site at this time due to pen availability.  The birds will be picked up from other locations as they are needed for the hunt.  For that reason, we will need notice if you would like to hunt these birds.  We ask that at least a week's notice, preferably two weeks, be given for released Mallard hunts so that we may acquire the birds  There will also be Mallards available for tower shoots if appropriate notice is given..

We are in the process of turning loose several hundred Mallards on the area, but they will have to be hunted in different ways than our released Mallard hunts.  Most likely as a jump shoot or flushed from one location to another.  We apologize for the inconvenience of not having these birds on site, but rest assured that we can have the birds ready if you book your hunt in advance.
